The Kern River Valley has a lot to offer families, young and old. It can be a great place to retire, with many clubs, churches, and organizations to get involved with in order to stay young. The Valley is also a great place for weekending and enjoying the many outdoor activities available.

This is also a great place if you are looking for a less-busy, more rural lifestyle in which to raise your kids. We have three public elementary and two middle schools, plus a high school and a satellite facility for Cerro Coso College. There are athletic and agricultural programs, FFA, AYSO, Little League, scouts, youth groups, plus youth-oriented organizations for activities such as equine gymhkanas and moto-cross. Many of our young people take prizes at the annual Kern County Fair in Bakersfield.

To learn more about the Kern Rver Valley, AKA Lake Isabella, AKA Gateway to the Sierra, please visit the local sites below. Whether you are looking for a calendar of events, clubs and organizations, churches, businesses, restaurants, weather & road conditions, directions to get here, or information on outdoor activities such as snow or water skiing, whitewater rafting, fishing, boating, camping, hiking, mountain biking, and much, much more, you can find it at one of these sites, or contact me and I will try to provide as much information as you require.
